Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Individuals within this job classification provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies consistent with student scope of practice. They are accountable for assessing, implementing, evaluating and documenting respiratory care in accordance with HMC standards and under the direction of the department Manager in order to deliver efficient, effective and quality respiratory care. The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Student must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide respiratory care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. This individual is responsible for the administration of oxygen, various treatment modalities, and ventilator management. He/she is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Respiratory Care Practice Act. Must be able to demonstrate awareness and appropriateness in the care of patient's at end of life.


Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • Must be enrolled in and attending an accredited Respiratory Therapy program in Oklahoma
  • Must be eligible for a provisional RCP Student license
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism displayed through sound judgement, initiative, and flexibility
  • Good interpersonal, communication, team-work, and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and follow-through skills
  • Ability to multi-task constantly, react to changes quickly/productively, and tolerate interruptions
  • Ability to perform work when no directions are given, and give directions to others
  • Remain flexible, organized, professional and able to analyze, make sound decisions under stressful situations
  • Demonstrate maturity and accountability
